Eyelash Extensions - What are "Eyelash Extensions"?
Eyelash extensions are an application of semi-permanent synthetic eyelashes to your own natural lashes. The single strand of synthetic lashes are applied delicately to one natural lash individually, one at a time, for an average of 70 to 100 lash extensions per eye.
Clients are comfortably reclined on a massage bed with their eyes closed. The lower lashes are covered to prevent the top lashes from adhering to the bottom lashes. The procedure is non-invasive, painless and so relaxing that clients typically fall asleep; then awaken to lush, beautiful eyelashes. The application takes about 90 to 120 minutes on average. The refill application takes about 60-90 minutes.
How long do lashes last?
Properly applied and cared for, an eyelash extension will stay bonded to your natural lashes until the end of its normal growth cycle, which may be 90-120 days. However, just like your scalp hair, natural lashes grow and shed in a cycle, meaning that they do continuously fall out and grow back in. Because of the irregularity of this shed/growth cycle, most lash customers come in for a refill every three to four weeks to replenish the fallen lashes to help maintain their full look.
Before Eyelash Extensions:
Remove all makeup and oils from eye area and eyelashes, including eyeliner, eyeshadow, eye creams, eye serums and foundation.
It usually takes 12 hours for the adhesive to dry thoroughly and yield a strong bond. During this time, the adhesive bond is vulnerable to moisture, steam and excessive heat.
Clients should be careful with following activities:
Friction from rubbing, styling, and playing with the lashes.
Sleeping on your side or stomach
Excessively rubbing irritated eyes.
The use of oil-based eye care products on or near your eye lashes, such as eye creams.
